The Royal Moroccan Football Federation and Moroccan National Tourist Office unveiled their ambitious “Land of Football” campaign on November 18 in Rabat, celebrating the kingdom’s football passion one month before hosting the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.

The initiative brings together sports, tourism, and national institutions to showcase Morocco’s readiness for welcoming the world. FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström praised the complementary relationship between football and tourism, noting both inspire dreams. CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba highlighted Morocco’s exceptional “FIFA World Cup Class” infrastructure, comparing stadium construction materials to luxury hotels.

FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa emphasized the tournament represents a major mobilizing event under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, creating opportunities for civilizational exchange. He announced 700,000 tickets sold and confirmed 113 nationalities attending the continental competition. Lekjaa stressed excellence requirements, viewing AFCON 2025 as launching a process extending beyond 2030.

The tourist office deployed comprehensive promotional activities following their partnership agreement with FRMF. These included roadshows across European cities with significant African diaspora populations in Spain,France,Belgium,Netherlands, and Italy. Collaboration with Royal Air Maroc and European carriers aims expanding connections between Morocco,Africa, and Europe.

ONMT partnered with major booking platforms including TripAdvisor and Expedia, encouraging supporters to experience AFCON in Morocco. The office developed specialized domestic tourism programs in coordination with FRMF,enabling Moroccan citizens to attend matches and participate in the African celebration. Over 47,000 tickets were requested through this program, plus 4,000 VIP packages for the competition’s initial phase excluding national team matches.

Fan zones will operate in non-host cities including Essaouira,Béni Mellal,El Jadida, and Oujda, featuring giant screens,mini-pitches,musical stages, craft areas, and photo zones. A promotional caravan will traverse ten African countries before reaching Morocco, creating cultural and sporting bridges around AFCON.
