
The Libyan Government team participating in the Rome Process met with its Italian counterpart on Monday,October 6,to discuss proposed projects aimed at tackling illegal immigration.
According to a statement from Libya’s Foreign Ministry,the meeting forms part of the Government of National Unity’s broader strategy to address irregular migration flows.
The two sides emphasised the importance of collaborative solutions and sustainable development as key tools to mitigate migration challenges.
Libya and Italy jointly chair the Migration and Security Working Group within the Rome Process — an initiative launched in 2024 during a Summit in Rome that brougt together countries across Africa,Europe,and Asia to coordinate migration policies.
The Rome Process focuses on developing initiatives in countries of origin and those affected by migration,aiming to tackle the root causes of irregular migration.
