The tireless efforts engaged by Al Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI,for preserving the historical and legal status of Al Quds and its Holy sites have been recognized by the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union.

In a statement issued Monday following their 29th joint meeting held in Kuwait, the ministers of the two regional groupings voiced support for the work made by Al-Quds Committee spearheaded by the Moroccan Sovereign for preserving the historical characteristics and legal status of Al-Quds and its Holy sites.

The EU-GCC ministerial meeting also reiterated its backing for a just and lasting resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

It voiced concern over settlement activities including the expansion of illegal settlements, and settler violence including against Christian communities in the West Bank and condemned Israel’s military operation, and increased terrorist attacks against civilians, which undermine the two-State solution and exacerbate tensions.

The joint meeting reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East on the basis of the two-State solution,in line with the Arab Peace Initiative, relevant UN resolutions, and the terms of reference of the peace process,on the 4 June 1967 lines, including with regard to Jerusalem with equivalent land swaps as may be agreed between the parties in accordance with international law and agreed international parameters.
