While introducing new legislation to put Britain’s economic security first,Chancellor Rachel Reeves was interrupted by a protester.
During the Labour Conference today in Liverpool,a man waving a Palestinian flag began shouting,‘There have been two years of genocide and mass starvation of Palestinians.’
Chancellor Reeves interrupted the man and said: ‘We understand your cause,and we have recognised a Palestinian state.
‘But we are now a party in government,not a party of protest.’
She was met with loud applause as she continued her remarks,adding she was ‘proud’ to stand as the UK’s chancellor.
She also listed various measures she’s taken in her role,before saying: ”That is the difference we make in power,not through protest. A party of change,and that is why I am standing here proud to be your chancellor of the exchequer.’

The protester hasn’t been escorted out of the room and has been told by security to sit down,Metro reporter Craig Munro has said.
Last week,Keir Starmer officially recognised the state of Palestine,to ‘revive the hope of peace for the Palestinians and Israelis,and a two-state solution’.
In an early indication of the changes,some Foreign Office web pages,including pages about travel advice for Israel,changed references from ‘Occupied Palestinian Territories’ to ‘Palestine’.
The British prime minister said in July he would recognise Palestine at the UNGA if the ‘appalling situation in Gaza’ did not improve.
No ceasefire has been agreed,and Israel has launched a major ground offensive to seize all of Gaza City,an operation condemned as ‘utterly reckless’ by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
Earlier this month,a UN commission of inquiry concluded Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. That followed a declaration of famine in Gaza City.
