The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico (CONCAMIN) signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday in Mexico City meant to strengthen economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries and establish a strategic partnership in investment and trade.
The agreement,signed by CGEM President Chakib Alj,who is visiting Mexico at the head of a CGEM delegation September 22-25,and CONCAMIN President Alejandro Malagón Barragán,aims to explore new opportunities for investment and partnership in sectors of mutual interest and to diversify trade exchanges.
It is also destined to facilitate joint industrial and commercial exhibitions,support dialogue between economic stakeholders,and encourage implementation of policies stimulating bilateral investments and trade. The framework enables specific agreements and potential joint project development while establishing a joint commission that will coordinate and monitor defined cooperation programs.
During the signing ceremony,Chakib Alj emphasized the agreement’s role in developing economic cooperation and establishing fruitful partnerships between the two countries. The initiative opens pathways for implementing promising investment projects strengthening relationships between Moroccan and Mexican private sectors across multiple industries including automotive,agri-food,tourism,renewable energy,and technological innovation,he said.
Morocco has achieved major advances positioning itself as Africa’s leading automotive producer while becoming a leader in aeronautics,textiles,pharmaceuticals,and agri-food sectors. The kingdom offers favorable investment climate through political stability,modern infrastructure including port and logistics facilities,and qualified human capital,Alj noted.
CONCAMIN’s president highlighted opportunities for partnership complementarity in pharmaceutical and food industries,noting Morocco’s rapid recent growth and natural economic assets facilitating enhanced cooperation with Mexico.
The agreement framework supports long-term cooperation foundations between the two countries,he said.
