The United Nations has lauded the “generosity” of King Mohammed VI,Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee,following the dispatch of “significant” additional humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
“We commend the generosity and decision of HM King Mohammed VI to send significant humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza,” Stéphane Dujarric,spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General,told MAP.
In this regard,he emphasized the beneficial impact of the aid ordered by the Sovereign,given the “catastrophic” conditions currently endured by the inhabitants of Gaza.
“The people of Gaza lack everything – food,medicine,shelter…,” Dujarric regretted,stressing the necessity for the international community to “spare no efforts” to improve the humanitarian situation of Palestinians.
The spokesperson also urged “pressure on the parties to accept an immediate ceasefire.”
The latest humanitarian aid ordered by the King consists of approximately 100 tons of foodstuffs and medicine,specifically intended for vulnerable groups,particularly children and infants.
The King,insisted that this humanitarian aid,like the previous ones,be transported by air and delivered urgently and directly to the Palestinian beneficiaries.
Actually,the humanitarian aid arrived quickly in the Gaza Strip thanks to the great respect enjoyed by the King on the international stage and the geopolitical weight of Morocco,as put by Director General of Palestine TV,Mohammed Al-Barghouti.
Al-Barghouti emphasized that the Kingdom has leveraged its global geopolitical influence and the high esteem it enjoys to ensure that this aid was delivered urgently and directly to vulnerable populations in the Gaza Strip. Once again,he continued,this aid demonstrates the Kingdom’s major role and political and diplomatic weight in ensuring the urgent delivery of this aid to the Palestinian people.
Other Palestinian officials and dignitaries have hailed the Royal initiative as a ray of hope for Palestinians in Gaza and a message to freedom-loving nations around the world to launch similar initiatives.
This aid translates the King’s tireless efforts and his steadfast and uninterrupted endeavors in support of the Palestinian People,they said,underlining that the moves are part of the constant efforts made by the Al-Quds Committee and Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.
This noble initiative,which comes at a time when the suffering of civilians in Gaza is worsening,reflects the profound human dimension of Morocco’s position on the Palestinian issue,they noted,expressing deep gratitude for this generous gesture,which reinforces values of solidarity and brotherhood among peoples of the Arab-Islamic Ummah.
