Morocco has secured a pivotal role in the future of electric aviation as British pioneer Vertical Aerospace announced a long-term partnership with Spanish Aciturri Aerostructures, which operates a sophisticated facility in Nouaceur near Casablanca,to manufacture the complete airframe for its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The agreement positions Morocco’s aerospace industry at the forefront of next-generation urban air mobility development.
Aciturri will supply all structural components including wings, empennage, pylons, and fuselage for both pre-production and certified versions of the VX4. The Spanish company will also assume engineering responsibility for critical components and provide concurrent manufacturing engineering to ensure efficient, scalable production.
The VX4,designed to transport four passengers plus pilot with 160-kilometer range at 240 km/h cruising speed, represents a breakthrough in zero-emission urban transportation. Vertical Aerospace has secured approximately 1,500 pre-orders from major carriers including American Airlines,Japan Airlines,GOL,and Bristow, validating strong market demand for electric air mobility solutions.
Aciturri Morocco, located within the Casablanca Midparc aerospace cluster, employs highly specialized workforce skilled in complex machining, structural sub-assembly,and production engineering. The facility’s involvement in VX4 production demonstrates Morocco’s aerospace sector maturity and growing international confidence in its manufacturing capabilities.
Founded in 1977,Aciturri brings nearly five decades of aerospace expertise, having manufactured components for Airbus,Boeing, and Embraer programs. The company recently expanded into emerging eVTOL markets through projects with Eve Air Mobility and Lilium, positioning it ideally for the Vertical Aerospace partnership.
Morocco’s aerospace industry, comprising over 140 companies generating 21 billion dirhams in annual exports, continues its trajectory toward high-value manufacturing segments. The VX4 project reinforces the kingdom’s strategic positioning as an assembly and innovation hub for future mobility technologies, building on existing strengths in traditional aerospace while pioneering participation in the electric aviation revolution that promises to transform regional air transport.
