A passenger was kicked off from a Ryanair flight to the Spanish port city of Alicante for allegedly vaping in the bathroom and setting off the fire alarm.
Footage captured by traveller Tristan James Walker shows the 21-year-old being escorted off the plane by six police officers before being hauled into a van on the tarmac.
The altercation on July 3 at Edinburgh Airport as the aircraft was about to leave for Spain.
Tristan said the flight was set to depart at 9.45am only for it to be allegedly delayed due to staff sickness.
After the alarm sounded,the pilot is said to have informed the suspect that he would be removed from the plane.
The man was hauled into a police van by six officers (Picture: Jam Press/@itstristanjames)‘He was taken off,he was very calm,did not argue or anything,no drama.’Coincidentally, Tristan said that he later bumped into the man in Benidorm and he revealed more about the repercussions.He explained: ‘We then happened to bump into him on Benidorm’s famous strip and he told us he just got a caution and was banned from Ryanair.’This is the latest incident involving vaping and smoking on a Ryanair flight this summer.People caught breaking the law usually face flight restrictions and hefty fines of up to £5,000.A spokesperson for Ryanair told Metro: ‘The crew called ahead for police assistance prior to departure after a passenger became disruptive onboard. ‘This passenger was offloaded before this flight continued to Alicante.‘Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour,ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a safe and respectful environment,without unnecessary disruption.‘This is a matter for local police.’
