A baby girl has died in hospital after being airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.

A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman,both from Newport,have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries until November 1.

Police were called at 11.30am on Friday,August 1,to a report of a child being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
