Morocco has called for the elaboration of new international financial approaches ensuring equitable and sustainable growth. This means

that economic progress should benefit all members of society and help to reduce social disparities, while ensuring access to essential services, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in addition to environment protection.

The call was made Monday by Head of Govt. Aziz Akhannouch at the 4th UN International Conference on Financing for Development convening in Sevilla from June 30 to July 3.

Under the royal leadership,Morocco is bolstering its structural reforms for an inclusive and sustainable development, said Mr. Akhannouch, citing in this regard the reforms made to improve social protection, housing and education.

To fund these reforms,Morocco has broadened tax base and enhanced measures against tax evasion, added the minister, noting that additional financial resources are required to prop up these ambitious restructuring projects.

Mr. Akhannouch, who is representing King Mohammed VI to the UN International Conference on Financing for Development, stressed the importance of reforming the international financing mechanisms in order to better respond to the legitimate aspirations of citizens.

The Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) is looking into reform financing at all levels, including ways of supporting reform of the international financial architecture and addressing financing challenges preventing the urgently needed investment push for the SDGs.

The event brings together government leaders, representatives of international and regional organizations, financial and trade institutions, businesses, civil society and the UN System to give a new impetus to international cooperation.
