Springhill Prison: Manhunt for three men on the run after fleeing open jail

Three prisoners are on the run after escaping from open jail in Buckinghamshire.

Jason MacDonagh,34,Daniel Harty,34 and Barney Casey,24,fled Springhill Open Prison near Aylesbury on Monday evening.

Thames Valley Police said the men have connections to multiple addresses in the UK,including Bristol,West Midlands,Leicestershire,Leeds,Bradford,Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

A spokesman said: ‘MacDonagh is a white man,at around 5ft 9ins tall,of medium build and has ginger hair. He has facial hair and was last seen wearing grey tracksuit trousers and a white vest.

‘Casey is also a white man,of small build and has black hair. He has slight facial hair and a moustache,and a goatee beard. He was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit.

He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and grey joggers.’Barney Casey,is one of the prisoners on the run (Picture: SWNS)Jason MacDonaugh also broke out (Picture: SWNS)Daniel Harty is wanted by police (Picture: SWNS)They were serving time for burgling £300,000 worth of jewellery and cash from homes across the UK in 2023.The three are known to frequent Bristol,the West Midlands,Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland,police said.The public has been urged not to approach them and to report any sightings to police.Earlier this year,a convicted murderer who escaped prison and was on the loose for three days was finally found.Raymond McCourt,59,was reported missing from HMP Castle Huntly in Dundee,with police warning people not to approach him.Luckily,he was found in Edinburgh and returned to prison. McCourt was jailed for life in 1993 after murdering shopkeeper Khalid Mahmood while attempting to rob his newsagents.
