Malawi’s President sends message to King Mohammed VI

President of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera has addressed a message to King Mohammed VI.

The message was handed over by the President’s special envoy Eisenhower Nduwa Mkaka at a meeting in Rabat Tuesday with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

In a press briefing following the meeting,Nduwa Mkaka,a former Minister of Foreign Affairs,reaffirmed Malawi’s strong support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.

“Malawi strongly supports the Kingdom of Morocco on the issue of the Sahara,” he said.

In this context,he emphasized that his country’s position remains “unchanged” and that “no solution can be considered outside the framework of Morocco’s territorial integrity.”


As a token of its support to Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its Sahara,Malawi opened a consulate general in Laâyoune in July 2021.
