President of Comoros Azali Assoumani has sent a written message to King Mohammed VI,whose contents were not disclosed.
The message was handed over by Comorian Foreign Minister Mbae Mohamed to Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita during a meeting held in Rabat this Monday.
The two ministers discussed during the meeting several topics related to bilateral relations and latest developments on the regional and international scene.
In a statement to the media,the top diplomat of the archipelago of Comoros reiterated support for Morocco’s Autonomy plan offered for the Sahara under its sovereignty,describing the plan as “the most reliable & credible solution” for achieving a negotiated political solution” to the decades-long conflict.
The Union of the Comoros was among the first countries to inaugurate a Consulate General in laâyoune,the main city of the southern provinces of the Kingdom,in December 2019,reaffirming thus its unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Sahara.
The Comoros considers the Sahara as a strategic hub for meeting and dialogue among various cultures and nations.
Additionally,universities and vocational training institutions in the southern provinces host many students from the Union of the Comoros and other African countries. These students are considered future ambassadors of Morocco across the continent.
On his talks with Bourita,the Comorian Foreign Minister said they focused on ways of strengthening further cooperation ties between Morocco and the Union of the Comoros in various sectors of common interests.
