Big Blow! African Athletics Confederation withdraws hosting rights from Algeria, picks Nigeria

The Confederation of African Athletics has revoked Algeria’s hosting rights for the 2025 African U18/U20 Athletics Championships, which were initially scheduled for April in Oran but postponed to July 16-20 before stripping the Algerian blackmailer regime from hosting the event.

In a statement, the African confederation said it decided to withdraw the hosting rights from Algeria due to “several various reasons” without giving more details and affirmed that its Council & Congress meetings as well as the 3rd Combined U18/U20 African Championships will be held in July in Nigeria’s Abeokuta City,Ogun State, located 40 km from Lagos.

The African Athletics governing body had cited Algeria’s lack of readiness, including inadequate infrastructure and facilities,as the main reasons for postponing the sport event from April to July.

The removal of Algeria as host country of the African championships is another slap on the face of the reckless Algerian rulers, who are deepening the country’s international isolation. The move also comes to confirm that the Algerian military regime is unreliable and untrustworthy partner, while several investors are already fleeing the country on the verge of implosion.
