OCP Africa,a subsidiary of Morocco’s OCP Group, has signed two cooperation agreements with Zambia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
The first agreement aims to accelerate the shift toward sustainable agriculture by focusing on farmer empowerment, capacity building, and tailored fertilizer solutions. The initiative will leverage digital tools such as soil mapping and a GIS-based platform to enhance productivity and support more informed, sustainable farming practices.
The 2nd agreement focuses on the development of a large-scale commercial farm that will serve as both a production site and an innovation hub. It will allow for the testing and scaling of customized fertilizer formulas suited to Zambia’s diverse soil conditions. The project also includes plans for producing green ammonia using renewable energy, contributing to a lower-carbon fertilizer value chain.
Both agreements reflect OCP Africa’s dedication to fostering inclusive, innovative, and locally adapted agricultural solutions, which are vital to improving food security, increasing farmers’ incomes, and driving socio-economic growth in Zambia.
Through this partnership,OCP Africa and Zambia are laying the foundation for long-term agricultural success in Zambia, enhancing local expertise, and creating sustainable,data-driven solutions for the agricultural sector.
