A woman who was found dead in Croydon has been named for the first time as Sarah Reynolds as police charge a man with her murder.

The 58-year-old was found dead at a house on Towpath Way in south London on Saturday.

She was a well-known mum from the local area,Metro understands.

A local shopkeeper told Metro: ‘We’re fairly upset,she was part of the community. Since 1995 she’s been part of the estate I think.

‘I don’t know what happened. I opened up store and there were police outside.’

A 57-year-old man,believed to have been known to the woman,has been arrested.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘An investigation has been launched following the death of a 58-year-old woman at a residential property in Croydon.

‘The London Ambulance Service called police to an address in Towpath Way at 4.55am on Saturday,April 12,after a woman was reported to be unresponsive.

‘Despite the best efforts of emergency services,she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

‘A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection to her death and remains in police custody. It is believed the two parties are known to each other.
