Morocco and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, skills development and multilateral affairs during high-level talks held in Rabat.
The two sides also discussed cooperation prospects in technology, industrial training,AI,and the possibility of a future Free Trade Agreement to boost economic ties.
On Tuesday,Moroccan Minister of Industry & Trade Ryad Mezzour and Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam discussed ways of enhancing economic and commercial relations and other sectors of common interest.
Trade exchanges between the two the countries are imbalanced. They reached $1.15 billion in 2025. Bangladesh exports only $81 million in goods to Morocco, against $1.07 billion Moroccan imports, mostly phosphates and agricultural products.
Mrs. Shama Obaed told journalists that her visit to Morocco opens up new prospects for cooperation in economic and commercial sectors as well as in diplomacy and sports.
The FM of Bangladesh said Rabat and Dhaka are expected to work more closely together in the coming years amid growing opportunities for partnership.
The Moroccan minister recognized that trade exchanges between the two countries remain below potential, saying that Morocco’s exports to Bangladesh are currently dominated by phosphate derivatives, whereas imports from Bangladesh remain relatively limited.
