Zawiya Oil Refining Company has announced on May 10 the resumption of normal operations at all its facilities following the restoration of calm in and around the refinery area since Friday evening,in coordination with the National Oil Corporation.
Chairman of the company’s management Committee,Emad Ben Koura, said the refinery had immediately restarted its two refining units to ensure the uninterrupted supply of gasoline, diesel and cooking gas to the local market and prevent shortages.
He added on Sunday that the company had also reopened its oil port and resumed maritime operations to receive tankers and load crude oil, aimed at safeguarding the fuel supply chain and maintaining operational stability.
The company said it had begun a comprehensive assessment of damage caused to some offices and storage tanks during the recent clashes and shelling, with specialised technical teams assigned to begin maintenance and rehabilitation works immediately.
Management is also assessing damage to employees’ private property, particularly vehicles affected during the unrest, with plans underway to compensate affected staff or repair the damage at the company’s expense.
The refinery’s Administration urged employees to remain at their posts and uphold a sense of national responsibility to ensure the continued operation of the strategic facility, while cautioning against rumours and actions that could heighten tensions.
The company further commended workers who continued performing their duties during the crisis, stressing that staff safety remains its highest priority alongside protecting facilities and sustaining operations.
