Rugby star killed in Halifax crash 20 years after his twin brother was killed by car

A rugby player was killed in a car crash 20 years after his twin brother was killed as a toddler,it has emerged.

Corey Graham,22,died in the three-car collision in Illingworth,Halifax,shortly before 7pm yesterday.

One of his teammates at Boothtown rugby club said: ‘Corey had a smile on his face constantly and made everyone laugh.

‘Corey loved his rugby from watching his dad play and playing at Boothtown. Corey,like his dad,had rugby in his veins.’

Two other men,aged 21 and 22,who were in the same car as Corey were declared dead at the scene. A 21-year-old remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Start your day informed with Metro's News Updates newsletter or get Breaking News alerts the moment it happens.It has since emerged that Corey’s twin was also killed in a tragic car crash as a toddler in 2006.Three young men were killed in the crash (Picture: Gazz Hall)Their mother was collecting Corey and his brother Connor from nursery when Connor slipped from her grip and ran into the path of an oncoming vehicle.His mother launched a campaign to try and get drivers to drive 20mph around schools and nurseries after the tragedy.She said at the time: ‘There’s always stuff,Christmas,birthdays and obviously with him being twin… he would have been playing football with Corey.’One relative posted the twins as babies with the caption: ‘Sleep tight my little angels,back in each other’s arms.’Another said: ‘You were the best Corey,now rest with your twin brother. I will never ever forget you and I love you so so much,I always will.’Three other people,a man aged 37 and two women aged 18 and 32,in a BMW involved in the Halifax collision were arrested for death by dangerous driving.Asking for dashcam footage,Detective Paul Lightowler said: ‘This is a tragic incident and extensive enquiries are ongoing at the scene this morning.
