British energy major BP has marked the reopening of its Tripoli office, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) confirmed on Wednesday,10 December, positioning the new headquarters as a strategic hub for advancing joint projects, and scaling cooperation across Libya’s energy sector.

The facility is expected to accelerate the delivery of existing commitments while enabling both parties to chart new frontiers in exploration and development.

According to the NOC,the announcement followed a high-level engagement between its Chairman,Masoud Suleiman, and senior BP officials, including Nader Zaki,Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mahmoud Ismail,Vice President and General Manager of BP in Libya. Their discussions centred on progress under the Memorandum of Understanding signed last July, which outlines efforts to reassess mature fields and unlock opportunities in untapped areas.

The meeting further evaluated preparations for an exploratory well scheduled for drilling next January. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to delivering the operation in alignment with rigorous technical protocols and global safety benchmarks, underscoring a shared ambition to drive sustained value creation within Libya’s evolving energy landscape.
