UN: Algerian regime betrays Palestine to save its Polisario terrorist group

The Algerian regime’s hypocrisy has been exposed worldwide. Its fancy rhetoric of heroic battles against colonialism,over-inflated exceptionalism,and propaganda for Palestinian cause are just empty words. No more than political manipulations used to serve their own agenda.

Algeria,which arms,funds and shelters the Polisario separatist group threatening Morocco’s stability,has voted lately at the UN Security Council for a resolution calling for Hamas disarmament. The vote has triggered widespread anger and condemnation among Palestinians,Arab,and Muslim countries.

Last month,Algeria did not even participate in UN Security Council Sahara vote endorsing Morocco’s autonomy under the Kingdom’s sovereignty. However,this week,Algiers has not only supported a resolution rejected by Palestinians themselves and all Arab and Muslim countries but it has also thanked Donald Trump for his peace efforts in a striking and pathetic act of hypocrisy.

The Algerian regime knows that its fate is intrinsically tied to that of the Polisario. So,to keep up its proxy group floating and prevent its dissolution under the growing American pressure,the Algerian rulers will not hesitate to sell their souls and even the whole country and the sky is the limit.

President Abdelmajid Tebboune has many times trumpeted that his country will never give up on protecting the Palestinian cause,repeating the slogan “With Palestine,either oppressor or oppressed”. But this propaganda proved to be just hot air as the Algerian junta has banned solidarity demonstrations with Palestinians,while rallies were organized in several capitals around the world for Gazans.

To weather the storm spurred by existential strategic miscalculations,the deceptive Algerian regime has pushed its foreign minister Ahmed Attaf to come out in a bid to explain the Algerian decision. However,he failed to justify the Algerian treason which has triggered swirling popular anger in social media networks as well as among some military generals,politicians,and militants.

The Algerian diplomat has also tried,to no avail,to cast doubts over Morocco’s Sahara victory at UN Security Council which has dropped partition or referendum options,focusing instead on autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty.

Yet,Attaf gave a misleading reading of the resolution in a bid to convince the Algerian public opinion that his country has not lost the “Western Sahara” case after squandering over $500 billion petrodollars during the past five decades for nothing.
