Morocco is intensifying its diplomatic efforts as it prepares to seek a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council,a move expected to reinforce its strategic partnerships and global positioning, according to a foreign ministry report.
The Kingdom is on track to sign 645 international agreements, treaties, and protocols in 2026,up from 630 in 2025,the ministry said in a report submitted to MPs as part of draft budget discussions.
Looking ahead, the total number of agreements is forecast to reach 675 by 2027,dip to 505 in 2028 due to global and domestic factors, and rise again to 675 by 2029,according to the report.
The fluctuations reflect ongoing negotiations, international developments, and Morocco’s evolving foreign policy priorities,it said.
It also notes that Morocco’s candidacy for a Security Council seat and its new national strategies in political and economic affairs are influencing the pace and scope of agreement signings.
