The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has called for immediate global intervention to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where millions remain affected by the ongoing conflict between the national Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
During her visit to Sudan on Monday,IOM Director General Amy Pope highlighted the urgent need for coordinated assistance, revealing that more than 30 million people require humanitarian aid, with nearly 10 million displaced within the country.
Since the conflict erupted in April 2023,mediation efforts have failed to halt the violence, which has claimed thousands of lives and displaced millions. The situation deteriorated further after the RSF seized El-Fasher,the capital of North Darfur, leading to reports of ethnic-based massacres. Local relief bodies, including the Tawila Emergency Room, have appealed for urgent humanitarian support after a fire destroyed displaced persons’ belongings in Dali camp. The RSF now controls all five states of Darfur, while the army holds the remaining regions, including Khartoum,as Sudan’s humanitarian crisis reaches critical levels.
