A 43-year-old pilot has died after her helicopter struck power lines and crashed in the Eastern Cape.

A pilot was killed when a helicopter crashed on a farm outside Patensie,Eastern Cape,on Monday morning.

The 43-year-old female crop duster pilot died at the scene after her Robinson helicopter struck power lines and crashed on Roodegrond farm.

“It is believed that the incident occurred at about 07:45,when the helicopter was spraying crops at the farm outside Patensie,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli.

The identity of the pilot is being withheld until the formal identification process is completed.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority was approached for comment which will be added if received.
