Libya’s Minister of Interior,Emad Al-Trabelsi,on 03 November 2025,announced a sweeping security plan aimed at reinforcing stability in Tripoli, tackling organized crime, and asserting State authority.

The initiative prioritizes curbing armed robberies, assaults on citizens, and other criminal activities through coordinated efforts among key security agencies, including the Tripoli Security Directorate,Anti-Narcotics Agency,Criminal Investigation Department,Central Support Force,Information and Security Follow-up Office, and the Military Police.

Al-Trabelsi confirmed that arrests had already been made and stressed that operations would be executed discreetly to ensure their effectiveness.

The plan will commence in the Hay Al-Andalus municipality, where four Police stations will serve as the operational nucleus. Al-Trabelsi emphasised the ministry’s determination to overcome previous challenges posed by parallel armed entities and limited resources. He issued firm directives against any unauthorised military or security units and warned that assaults on police officers would be treated as attacks on the state, promising decisive and forceful responses to maintain order and safeguard public servants.
