
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has lauded on Thursday,October 23,the European Parliament for its firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause,notably its call to end the war in Gaza and alleviate the suffering of civilians.
The Egyptian leader made the remarks during a meeting with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in Brussels,held on the sidelines of the Egypt-EU Summit. El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s mediation efforts,which contributed to securing a Gaza ceasefire agreement,and highlighted the significance of international coordination to ensure the accord’s full implementation.
The Egyptian president also underscored the importance of humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in Gaza,announcing that Egypt will host a Conference on Early Recovery,Reconstruction,and Development of Gaza in November. He reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing role in promoting peace and stability across the Middle East,advocating for coordinated efforts to preserve state sovereignty and protect regional resources. Metsola,for her part,commended Egypt’s decisive mediation in the Gaza ceasefire,describing El-Sisi’s leadership as pivotal to achieving peace. She also reiterated the European Union’s commitment to the two-state solution.
Beyond the Gaza issue,discussions extended to strengthening Egypt-EU ties under the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership framework. El-Sisi called for deepened parliamentary dialogue and closer cooperation on shared priorities,including curbing irregular migration and creating economic opportunities for skilled Egyptian workers in Europe. Both leaders agreed on the need to sustain mutual engagement to promote development,security,and stability across the Mediterranean region.
