Two people have been stabbed,one fatally,within hours of each other in south London.

Police have erected a second crime scene in Mountsfield Park in Catford – just a few hundred metres away from this morning’s incident.

Officers,who were already hunting for a suspect,are now investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

Forensic experts have been searching for clues while detectives trawl through CCTV footage in the hunt for the killer.

Ambulance crews were called to Farley Mews at 8.05am today to reports of a stabbing.

To explain to them what has happened is soul destroying.’Pictures from the scene show police cordons raised outside the Poundland store on Rushey Green.Maria,who has run the nearby La Ciabatta café for fourteen years,said she was ‘upset’ by the incident yards away from her shopfront.   She said: ‘It’s not safe [here]. It’s been really bad over the last two years. Especially nighttime – there’s gangs,people dealing drugs.’Maria added that the high street felt emptier this morning has police scour the scene in search of evidence.Met Police officers were called to Rushey Green,Catford,this morning and have remained in the area sinceShe continued: ‘Nobody has been coming inside [the shop] and people are not passing by. Even people driving cannot park on the street.’Another local shopkeeper,who asked not to be named,said a significant police presence remained at the scene.


He said: ‘We just noticed that police are there since this morning. We’ve never come across this sort of incident before.’Police have cordoned off a busy shopping area between Ringstead Road and Honley Road in both directions.London Ambulance Service,which arrived on the scene within three minutes,deployed ambulance crews,an advanced paramedic and a car-driven trauma team from the Air Ambulance.In March a 19-year-old was found guilty of murdering a man he gunned down outside a Catford nightclub.Tyler Roberts-Emmanuel shot Shaquille Graham,30,in Catford on 10 March 2024,after lying in wait for him for 20 minutes outside the venue then ambushing him.The centre of Catford was behind a police cordon following a fatal stabbingA Met Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 03:06hrs on Wednesday,15 October to Rushey Green,SE6 following reports of a stabbing.‘Met officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service,who treated a man in his 20s for stab wounds before taking him to a nearby hospital.‘Unfortunately,despite the best efforts of the emergency services,he died from his injuries.‘A murder investigation has been launched and a crime scene is in place. There has been no arrests.‘Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.’
