Morocco will host four decisive matches between October 8 and 14 as part of the 9th and 10th rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,which will be held in the United States,Canada, and Mexico.
Morocco’s hosting of these fixtures reflects its growing role as a regional football partner. In recent years, the country has strengthened its cooperation with 44 African football federations, offering its world-class stadiums to nations whose facilities do not meet FIFA’s requirements.
This initiative is part of Morocco’s broader commitment to supporting the development of football across the continent and promoting regional solidarity through sport.
According to the official schedule published by FIFA,the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca will stage two fixtures: Djibouti will face Egypt on Wednesday,October 8 at 5:00 p.m. (local time),followed by Djibouti vs. Sierra Leone on Sunday,October 12 at 8:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Stade d’Honneur in Meknès will host the clash between the Central African Republic and Ghana on October 8 at 5:00 p.m. The final match of this qualifying window—Guinea vs. Botswana—will take place on Tuesday,October 14 at 5:00 p.m. at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.
The relocation of these matches to Morocco follows a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to disqualify several stadiums across the continent that failed to meet international standards required for hosting World Cup qualifiers.
