
Libya and the United Arab Emirates have started discussions aimed at re-establishing direct air connections between the two countries. In this connection,Libya’s Minister of Transportation,Mohamed Al-Shahoubi,met with Ahmed Taher,an envoy from Dubai’s Civil Aviation Authority,at Mitiga Airport in Tripoli,on Tuesday.
Talks centered on technical and security preparations necessary for Emirati airlines — including Emirates Airlines and Fly Dubai — to resume flights from Dubai International Airport to Libya’s airports in Mitiga,Misrata,and Benghazi. Delegations from the two Emirati carriers will soon visit Libya to assess airport readiness and set timelines for the relaunch of operations.
The initiative is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand Libya’s international aviation network. According to the Government of National Unity,the planned resumption of flights marks a significant step toward revitalizing Libya’s economy by boosting commercial and tourism activities. Enhanced air connectivity with the UAE is also anticipated to contribute to the broader economic recovery and global integration of Libyan airports.
