Matric pupil stabbed to death at Eastern Cape school, police hunt five suspects

A matric boy has been stabbed to death at Humansdorp Senior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday.

A violent altercation between a group of pupils has resulted in a matric pupil being stabbed to death at Humansdorp Senior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday morning.

Provincial police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said the incident occurred just after 08:15.

“An altercation at the school among learners left one male learner with stab wounds. The victim was declared dead on the scene,” said Nkohli.

Police said five suspects are still at large,and their arrest is imminent.

Eastern Cape education department spokesperson Mali Mtima said they were aware of the incident and are awaiting a report from the school on what took place.

“Police are still on site to assist us in dealing with the matter. We will be able to update [the public] once we have collected the report,” said Mtima.
