Four members of a crime gang who carried out at least 100 burglaries in three years have been jailed.

The gang acted with a high level of planning and preparation as they used chainsaws to cut through metal shutters and gain access to shops,stealing around £2million worth of items during their crime spree.

Incredible CCTV footage caught one of their raids on film,showing sparks flying as the gang cut through shop shutters and smashing through windows with a hammer.

After gaining entry to the shop,they used a huge bag similar to those used for the delivery of construction materials to empty the shelves of vapes and tobacco products.

They then dragged the huge bag out to a car waiting with its boot open before making their escape.

But while the Metropolitan Police has linked the gang to more than 100 offences,they fear the true number could be far higher.

Four members of the gang – Lewis Northover,Scott Logan,Sean Bennett and Sachon Morgan – were caught by the Met’s Flying Squad and they’ve now been jailed.

Northover,Logan and Bennett used high-powered stolen vehicles to raid a string of commercial premises across London and the Home Counties between January 2020 and September 2022.

Then between April 2024 and January 2025 Northover,Logan and Morgan targeted more than 35 convenience stores,electronics shops and a department store and several jewellery stores.

Stolen property was often stored in the grounds of a church.

Detectives placed the suspects under surveillance and followed the stolen vehicles to a barn near Waltham Abbey,Essex.

On January 9 Northover,Logan and Morgan targeted an electronics store in north-west London. When they returned with the stolen goods to the storage location,they found officers lying in wait.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather said: ‘Northover,Logan,Bennett and Morgan were part of an organised criminal network who horrified shopkeepers and communities with a series of raids.

‘They thought that acting quickly and escaping in high-powered vehicles meant that they were above the law. They were wrong.

‘Officers tracked them down through diligent forensic work,digging through CCTV and carrying out surveillance.

‘Their hard work shows how the force is taking the fight to criminal gangs and committed to supporting the local communities they intimidate and threaten.’
