A man has been arrested after 20 people fell ill after CS Spray was detonated at Heathrow Airport.
Specialist firefighters,paramedics and police were all called to a ‘hazardous materials outbreak’ at Heathrow airport last night after 20 passengers fell ill.
Evacuations were carried out,Terminal 4 was closed and flights were expected to be cancelled across the board.
One-by-one people reported feeling unwell after the ‘potential hazardous materials’ were discovered inside the west London airport.
A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm (CS spray) and causing a public nuisance today.
Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as terror related.
It was reported the incident was due to ‘mass hysteria’ at the airport,with the emergency services leaving just two hours after the first reports,and the terminal reopening shortly after.

Police said at the time there were ‘no trace of any adverse substance were found’.
None of the 20 people who reported an injury had life-threatening of life-changing injuries.
All-in-all,the incident lasted just three-and-a-half hours.

Kieran Burchmore was one of the passengers stranded outside Heathrow,looking for answers.
He told Metro that passengers are being called inside the terminal ‘flight by flight,adding: ‘We were offered water and blankets but not enough to go around.
‘It was chaos. They said they needed cooperation but instead a rush towards the terminal happened. Staff were telling everyone to get back.’
