Police responded to a violent incident between siblings in Limpopo on Sunday.

A violent confrontation between siblings on Sunday escalated into a tragic event that left a 32-year-old woman dead and a man injured.
According to Limpopo police,the incident began as three brothers from Westenburg,outside Polokwane,were watching soccer alongside the eldest brother’s girlfriend.
“At some point,the eldest brother left the house,leaving his girlfriend inside his room.
“The youngest brother suddenly became aggressive towards the woman and stabbed her several times,” police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said.

Mashaba said when the eldest brother returned and attempted to intervene,he too was stabbed with a knife.

He said the man proceeded to lock the house,trapping the injured within.
“Community members became aware of the commotion,broke into the house,and the suspect immediately fled.

“He was chased down and caught by the community,who then assaulted him,” Mashaba said.
Police arrived,rescued the suspect from the mob,and arrested him.
Mashaba said the 32-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds and declared dead on the scene.
“The elder brother sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical treatment,” he said.
The man is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon,facing charges of murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
