Three people have been shot in New York’s Times Square with police confirming a teenager opened fire into the crowd.

One woman,18,and two men,19 and 65,have been injured at the tourist hotspot in the heart of the US city.

A 17-year-old has been arrested with officers describing the attack as a ‘violent reaction to a dispute’.

Two men suffered gunshot wounds to the leg while a woman was grazed in the neck by a bullet.

Police were called to West 44th Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan just after 1am EST.

A suspect has been taken into custody,and all three victims have been taken to hospital.

Footage shows people fleeing the scene after shots can be heard ringing out.

Another appears to show a car pierced with bullet holes as police rush to help those inside.

It comes just days after another a shooting in Manhattan by a gunman who later took his own life.

Shane Tamura,27,killed four people at the offices that house the NFL’s headquarters.
