Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) in Tetouan, working with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested on Saturday six suspects, including two women, for alleged possession and distribution of cocaine.

The operation, conducted in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie, began in a rural area near the town of Ouezzane,in northern Morocco where officers detained a man and his son in the village of El Kherba, and seized 4.6 kilograms of cocaine in their possession.

Thorough investigations led to the arrest of a third member of the same family in the village of Dardare. The suspect, identified as the main suspect, allegedly fired a hunting rifle at officers in an attempt to resist arrest.

Police neutralized the threat and detained him along with another suspect and two women. Officers also seized the firearm used in the attack against officers, two cartridges,a large knife,an extra 200 grams of cocaine, two electronic scales, two suspected fake license plates, and five vehicles believed to have been used in drug trafficking.

Police database checks revealed that the main suspect was already wanted nationwide in connection with other drug and narcotics cases.

All six suspects are in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office to determine the full scope of the operation and identify other individuals who may be linked to the criminal network.
