A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly choking a 3-month-old baby to death.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly choking a 3-month-old baby to death.

The police were notified of the child’s death on Friday evening after two people took the child to a clinic in Vleifontein in the Vhembe District of Limpopo,according to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The two people told police that they were at a house in the area along with the 20-year-old woman,who was holding the baby.

The woman went inside,and when they went to check on her,they caught her choking the baby.

They intervened and rushed the little boy to the clinic,but it was too late.

“A case of murder was immediately opened,and the suspect was traced and subsequently apprehended for the murder of a 3-month-old victim. The motive behind the incident is unknown,” Ledwaba added.

The woman,who is a relative of the deceased,will appear in the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
