The First Lady of El Salvador Gabriela De Bukele visited on Tuesday in Tangier the Lalla Asmaa Center for Deaf Children,a specialized school supported by Lalla Asmaa Foundation.
First Lady Gabriela toured the center’s various outbuildings and followed explanations on the services provided by the Center for deaf children as well as the vocational training workshops dedicated to baking,hairdressing,and sewing,as well as the robotics and games workshops.
Inaugurated in June 2023 by Princess Lalla Asmaa,the center offers innovative educational programs and new opportunities for people with hearing impairments.
On Monday,the First Lady of El Salvador paid a visit to the Mohammed VI Research and Innovation Center,part of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health.
The visit is part of the partnership set between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health in the field of scientific research on deafness.
The Mohammed VI Research & Innovation Center is contributing to the development of research project on hearing disorders,with the aim of achieving a comprehensive and early diagnosis based on genetic characteristics.
The Center,which includes laboratories in cellular biology and immunology,molecular biology and genomics,next-generation sequencing,and microbiology and infectiology,has conducted research that has led to the discovery of genetic causes of hearing disorders.
Princess Lalla Asmaa and First Lady Gabriela also visited on Monday in Rabat the Headquarters of Lalla Asmaa Foundation for Hearing Impaired Children and Youth.
On this occasion,the Princess and the First Lady of El Salvador toured various wards of the Foundation and were briefed on the cutting-edge medical care,rehabilitation,specialized education,psychosocial support,and family training provided by the institution.
First Lady Gabriela also visited the Hearing Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Center of the foundation,where she attended a presentation on the various activities of the Center,which reflects Morocco’s commitment to the inclusion of deaf children.
Inaugurated in March 2024,the Center includes a mother-and-child area,pediatric consultation rooms,ENT consultation rooms,speech therapy facilities,psychomotor therapy and psychology services,audiometry and auditory evoked potentials units,as well as an infirmary.
El Salvador’s First Lady also received detailed explanations on the latest possibilities for remote adjustment and activation of cochlear implants,as well as on cochlear implant technology.
