Under the directive of Libya’s Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Unity,a coordinated security operation was conducted in collaboration with INTERPOL’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate and various Libyan security agencies. The operation involved comprehensive field inspections at key entry points—including ports and airports—where advanced technologies were employed to verify passports, vehicle registrations, and shipping documents, enhancing scrutiny of personal data.
The Ministry reported that INTERPOL’s Tripoli team commended the high level of coordination between security and customs officials in Misrata, which ensured a seamless execution of the operation. This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen Libya’s border security infrastructure and combat transnational organised crime, reinforcing ongoing international cooperation between Libya and INTERPOL in addressing security threats.
