Witnesses have described how ‘hero’ pub staff battled to save the life of a man fatally stabbed in east London.
The 26-year-old victim was attacked opposite the King’s Ford Wetherspoon in Chingford Mount at around 9pm on Sunday evening.
Staff raced out of the pub with a defibrillator in an effort to save him,locals said.
A restaurant worker who was passing just moments after the incident described the ‘horrific’ scenes as the victim lay dying.
The witness,28,told Metro: ‘There was panic and distress. There were people from the pub with a defibrillator trying to save the man. There was a crowd forming of people from the pub I guess and then the police and ambulances showed up. The people from the pub were heroes. They did their best.’
Another witness who had been in the pub told Metro: ‘There was shouting outside and people including staff ran out. When it comes down time it people want to help. The bloke who died is a known face. He’s a decent person,no bother.’
A third witness meanwhile described the moment the victim’s mother was told her son had been knifed.

The mother was in another pub around the corner when friends of the victim raced in to tell her.
The witness told Metro: ‘The mum was at another pub around the corner when the man’s friends came in and told her. She was devastated and her and her friends ran to the scene.
‘One of the friends tried to resuscitate him. He was a nice guy but was in the wrong place at the around time I’m told. His friends had stolen some stuff and because he knew them he was attacked. It’s just horrible. The mum is a really good person.’
Forensics officers were scouring the area around the Sheesha King today.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers had been on patrol on Sunday when members of the public notified them of the stabbing at 9.14pm.

‘Officers attended the scene and found a 26-year-old man with a stab wound. London’s Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service also attended,they added.

‘The officers gave first aid on arrival but despite the best efforts of all the emergency services,the man sadly died at the scene.
‘The man’s next-of-kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.’
No arrests have been made,they said,and road closures will be in place ‘for some time’ while officers investigate.
Meanwhile,chief superintendent Dan Card,who leads policing in the local area,added: ‘We are deeply saddened by the events that took place last night and our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this hugely difficult time.
‘Detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened yesterday evening.
‘We understand the impact this incident will have on the local community and officers are being deployed on reassurance patrols to help answer any questions or concerns.’
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 9.11pm on Sunday 6 July to reports of a stabbing on Chingford Mount Road,E4.

‘We sent resources to the scene,including an ambulance crew,paramedics in fast response cars,an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
‘Very sadly,despite the best efforts of our crews,a man was pronounced dead at the scene.’
Detectives are collecting CCTV footage and carrying out door to door inquiries as part of the investigation.
