Morocco is positioning itself as a key facilitator in establishing historic logistics partnerships between Africa and Turkey, emphasizing South-South cooperation as the foundation for sustainable and sovereign development across both regions.

Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh announced Sunday in Istanbul that Morocco fully supports strengthening transport corridors between Africa and Turkey through sustainable, resilient, and inclusive approaches. Speaking at a restricted session dedicated to Africa during the Global Transport Connectivity Forum,Kayouh outlined Morocco’s commitment to co-development,skills transfer, and joint investment in sustainable infrastructure.

The official expressed Morocco’s complete support for creating logistics corridors directly linking strategic Turkish ports including Mersin,İskenderun, and Izmir with African ports. These corridors should integrate deeply with African interior networks through multimodal approaches combining rail, road, sea, and air transport.

Kayouh proposed establishing integrated logistics platforms and special economic zones as anchor points for optimized regional value chains. He emphasized that strengthening direct air connections between Turkey and Africa represents an essential lever for accelerating commercial exchanges, facilitating people mobility, and supporting tourism and investment development.

Morocco has positioned itself to play an active and complementary role alongside Turkey, offering modern logistics infrastructure including Tanger Med port and future platforms in Nador and Dakhla. The kingdom brings expertise in public-private partnerships with concrete achievements in railway, highway, port, and aviation sectors.

The minister highlighted Morocco’s readiness to mobilize its dense diplomatic and economic network in West and Central Africa, supported by active Moroccan operators in construction, logistics, port services, and digital solutions. Morocco also encourages regular organization of economic forums and joint workshops between Africa and Turkey to identify common priorities and remove technical or regulatory obstacles.
