The General Transport Union, under the umbrella of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT),has issued a warning of a two-day strike across TRANSTU,Tunisia’s primary public transport company.

The union objects to what it describes as the CEO’s unilateral and unlawful appointment of a senior official, effective from 1 July 2025,allegedly in violation of civil service laws and administrative protocols.

In a formal statement, the union has demanded the immediate revocation of the appointment and all its subsequent effects, alongside an urgent investigation by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Transport. Should the authorities fail to act,the union has vowed to escalate its protest through an open sit-in at TRANSTU headquarters and a coordinated two-day general strike affecting all company branches.
