The stadiums that will host the African Cup of Nations will be delivered as planned ahead of the tournament,Fouzi Lekjaa, head of Morocco’s football federation (FRMF) said.

Speaking at a press briefing,Lekjaa confirmed that the Complexe Moulay Abdellah in Rabat and the Grand Stade de Tanger will be completed by September 2025. Meanwhile, two other venues under-construction in Rabat,Al Barid and Moulay El Hassan stadiums, are scheduled to open in August.

These four stadiums will join five others that are already operational: Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca,Grand Stade de Marrakech,Adrar Stadium in Agadir, and Grand Stade de Fès.

Together, these nine venues will provide Morocco with an unprecedented infrastructure network for the tournament, with capacities ranging from 45,000 to 72,000 seats.

Lekjaa emphasized that these facilities are not only designed for CAN 2025 but also form part of Morocco’s broader preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup,which the country will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

Many of these stadiums have already hosted major continental events, including the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The confirmed delivery timeline ensures that each host city will be ready to stage at least six group-stage matches, enhancing accessibility for fans and ensuring a smooth tournament experience.
