Morocco and Ethiopia have signed this Tuesday in Rabat a military cooperation agreement,covering staff training,joint exercises,scientific research,and military health.
The agreement was initialed by Morocco’s Minister in charge of the National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi,and Ethiopia’s Defense Minister Aysha Mohammed Mussa,who is on a working visit to the Kingdom.
The signing ceremony was attended by Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the South Zone,Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid,and Mohammed Mussa’s accompanying delegation,the National Defense Administration said in a statement.
The agreement,part of the consolidation and diversification of cooperation between the two countries,also provides for the exchange of experience and expertise in various areas of common interest as well as for the creation of a joint military commission,which will meet alternately in Rabat and Addis Ababa.
During the meeting,the two sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and ways of further strengthening it in areas of common interest. They also underlined the positive and constructive role of both countries in maintaining stability,security,and peace on the African continent,the statement said.
The meeting provided opportunity to highlight the various South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives launched under the leadership of King Mohammed VI,and Morocco’s role as a dynamic player in shared stability and prosperity for the benefit of the African continent.
The two sides also voiced their shared ambition to bolster bilateral relations through the implementation of the just-signed military cooperation agreement,and through regular visit exchanges of officials from both countries.
